The new 20,000-square-foot FREEDM ERC headquarters will open on NC State's Centennial Campus in 2010. This new center home will include ERC offices, computer laboratory, library, and power electronics, energy storage, and motor drive laboratories, as well as a Real Time Digital Simulator lab and the 1MW FREEDM System demonstration hub. For more information about this state-of-the-art facility and opporutnity to be co-located with the FREEDM Systems Center, please visit this site.
The 1 MW FREEDM System demonstration lab will not only demonstrate the center developed technologies, it will also be used to showcase the third party renewable energy technologies, such as solar, wind, fuel cell, battery storage, flywheel storage, and plug-in vehicles. We want to demonstrate the plug-and-play feature of the FREEDM system while at the same time power the Center headquarters and other labs with green energy. We are actively seeking additional corporate sponsors to support these special labs. Once established, center industry partners will be allowed to use this state-of-the-art facility to conduct other research experiements related to future smart grid, smart home, and distributed generations. Please contact us for more information.
In addition to the above new facility, a network of cutting-edge, shared laboratories are in place at the ERC partner universities to support the ERC's diverse research agenda.
