The FREEDM Systems Center at NC State University has one immediate opening for a postdoctoral researcher. The available post doctoral position targets research and projects in the areas of power systems and power electronics. This position provides a unique opportunity with combined flavor of involvements in research and development (R&D) as well as industrial projects. The successful candidate will be engaged in FREEDM center research topics on power electronic applications for Smart Grids and green energy delivery infrastructure while conducting industrial projects and managing the overall testing activities of the real-time digital simulation (RTDS) laboratory.

We are looking for non tenure-track candidates at research assistant professor, research associate and research professor levels. Successful candidates will be affiliated with FREEDM Systems Center. Position number 101954.
Purpose/Background
The Future Renewable Electric Energy Delivery and Management (FREEDM) Systems Center, a collaboration of 6 universities and 50 industrial partners, has selected Horizon Energy Group to provide integrated systems engineering support for the many Smart Grid advancements being developed by the FREEDM Systems Center. The FREEDM Systems Center is co-funded by the National Science Foundation and FREEDM's industrial partners.
Part of this effort is to develop and implement a master integrated schedule (MIS) for FREEDM. As a matter of keeping the master integrated schedule current and helpful to the entire staff, students, industry partners, etc, progress needs to be reported to the MIS on a periodic basis.

The selected North Carolina State University undergraduate student will perform the following tasks under the supervision of Steve Pullins, Horizon Energy Group:

The selected North Carolina State University undergraduate student will have the following qualifications for the statement of work:
Horizon Energy Group does not have the statutory capability to handle H1B or any other work visa situations.
Estimated Hours
Period of performance (POP): January 2012 through June 2012
Approximately 24 hours per month, typically in the last 2 weeks of each month.
Total: 144 hours
Payment
Horizon Energy Group will contract with the undergraduate student as an Independent Contractor for the above tasking in the SOW.
Horizon Energy Group will pay the Independent Contractor $20/hour for all work accomplished under the SOW.
