Congratulations to Amiya Haque for winning the First Prize at the NC State Electrical and Computer Engineering-Graduate Student Association Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. The 3MT challenge asks graduate researchers to present their work clearly and compellingly in just three minutes, making Amiya’s win a strong testament to both research excellence and standout science communication. Her research focuses on Renewable Energy based Microgrids, specifically on Emulating a Wave Energy Converter. Reflecting on the win, Amiya shared: “My strategy was to keep one clear story arc: the problem, why it matters, and my key contribution—using simple language and a strong opening to hook the audience.” We’re proud to see Amiya represent FREEDM and NC State’s ECE community so well.
