Dr. Yu works on high-frequency solid-state transformers with an advanced soft-switching technique, ultra high efficiency inverters, high-voltage power conversion, and distributed energy storage devices. Prior to joining the FREEDM faculty, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher, research scientist and research assistant professor at the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. His research interests include soft-switching power converters, grid-tied inverters, industrial power electronics, and renewable energy power systems.
