Testing Service Experience

“We were very pleased with the access to the PV and battery resources at your facility and especially with you being very flexible with the duration of our stay.  This allowed us to maximize the amount of data collected and validate our system. …excellent lab support during our setup, testing, and dismantling of the equipment.”

In 2016, Schneider Electric approached the FREEDM Systems Center with a request to perform evaluation testing in our Green Energy Hub (GEH) high bay lab space. The highly-configurable lab, which includes a 1 MW, 12kV AC loop feeder, 40 kW roof-mounted solar PV array, multiple vehicle charging stations, and multiple mobile battery packs rated at 5 kWh, accomodated all requirements, and successful testing concluded in early 2017.

Another benefit of working with the FREEDM Systems Center is access to a pool of highly qualified internship candidates, including undergraduate and masters level students. Matthew Sonnenberg, an NC State ECE undergrad, began a summer internship at Schneider Electric during the summer of 2017. Schneider hired Matt to perform data acquisition and analysis for pump cavitation detection at their Knightdale, NC facility. You can read more about this project here.
