Overview
The purpose of the Distributed Energy Storage Devices (DESD) project is to develop safe, low-cost, efficient, plug-and-play devices to support the FREEDM system and traditional grids. Through the integration of Center-developed and commercial storage devices, the project creates DESD that are efficient, modular, and easily dispatched. The DESD also play a critical role in the FREEDM system’s intelligent energy and power management functionality, due to their bi-directional power flow capability.
